Caffeine has multiple psychological benefits; studies have shown an increase in work productivity and overall happiness of the clients. When used in conjunction with a healthy diet, proper hydration and exercise caffeine has no adverse health effects. The reason it receives a bad name is sugar, the cause of most of the “energy drink” health issues is sugar. What it comes down to is caffeine gives you energy, which enables you to exercise longer and CAN contribute to overall success. The key is moderation, diet and hydration.

A daily dose of caffeine can suppress the degenerative processes in the brain that can lead to confusion and memory loss, a study in mice suggests.

The researchers hope that caffeine could present a safe, inexpensive treatment for dementia.

Professor Gary Arendash, a memory and ageing specialist who led the latest research, said that he wished to conduct human patient trials as soon as possible.

“The findings provide evidence that caffeine could be a viable treatment for established Alzheimer’s disease and not simply a protective strategy,” he said.

A study in 2002 found that people who consumed caffeine in mid-life were 60 per cent less likely to develop the disease.

Default Enjoy Your Morning Joe

More good news for all of you caffeine addicts: People sipping at least three cups of coffee daily were 30 percent less likely to suffer memory loss later in life, reports the journal Neurology. "Caffeine is a stimulant that improves attention and focus so you may be better able to store information as memories," reasons John Hart, M.D., medical director at the Center for Brain Health at The University of Texas at Dallas.
