The best way to overcome injuries is by listening to your body and respecting it. I have been a competitve athelete for over 25 years and I finally realised that the best way to overcome a muscle tear or any muscular injury is by consuming more protein and increasing your BCAA. If it's a joint or legement tear ofcourse Glucosamine and Chondroitin. What's more important is giving your injury enough time to heal before you tear it again. Late

Nick,
I am also dealing with a little shoulder problem. I find that lifting actually helps as long as I'm not forcing anything. Listening to your body is the key, like you said. Now I work shoulders on their own day and keep them 2-3 days apart from working chest. As for supplements, the MSM stuff seems to do some good. The shoulder should heal up over time, good luck.

So true. About the only thing that helps mine is weight lifting as well. What's interesting is knowing what exercise actually help and which ones tear it up more. In my case, as long as I am doing shoulder exercise that I can keep my arms closer to my torso and not doing any wide grips I am generally OK with it-Nick

look obviously if you have a shoulder injury you know def know it. you can tell a differance in pain. sharp is bad and burn is usually just means it needs to rest. if you think you have a shoulder prob...heck any joint prob have it checked out. ive had to deal w/ a bad shoulder b/c of my decission. hey if you are hurt and tryin to come back and you're thinkin, " good lord this isn't easy "...hey it isn't suppose to be, but don't give up. i pushed through mine and so will you. when i was 14 my sophmore year of highschool i had a dislocation in a football game. it was bout 3rd game into the season which meant pretty much september. i let my principal on the sideline put back in place so i could finish the game. i finished the season, playoffs, and lifted up until april. trust me i have incredibly high pain tolerance but man i was hurtin. i kept my mouth shout cause i thought i was to tough. finally after a workout on bench when i couldn't even lockout much less even push the weight up. i finally let my coach and mom take over..lol. we to an OS and was set for a surgery w/ in 2 wks. reason i had torn my left rotator cuff in half, piece of cartilage in half, and partially tore a tendon. what was i thinkin...heck i was so young and dumb...i even lifted the day before surgery. wow i didn't listen...i guess thats what you get when you're a small town country boy who thinks he doesn't have to. so listen i had the surgery..went pretty good..they told me i would be out for months. BFS i was back in a couple months. i worked hard and was liftin more than ever. i was feelin great as far as mobility and strength. as far as pain..hey it still hurts today. scar tissue and neglict. so basically always be safe, but if you do face a injury w/ or w/out resulting in a surgery. you're goin to be fine. just work hard and play it safe. never give up...adapt and overcome...by the way i'm a Marine.
